🕌 Azan Time — Privacy Policy

Introduction

Azan Time ("we", "our", "the app") is a Muslim prayer times and Qibla compass app developed and published by Rizwan Shoaib. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we access, why, and how it's handled.

Data We Access

• Location (GPS) — We access your device's location ONLY to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for your area. Your location is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to our servers.
• Device Sensors (Magnetometer) — We use the device compass sensor to determine the Qibla direction. This data is processed locally and never stored or transmitted.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• ❌ We do NOT collect your personal information (name, email, phone number)
• ❌ We do NOT track your precise location history
• ❌ We do NOT sell your personal data. Our advertising partner Google AdMob processes limited advertising data as described below.
• ❌ We do NOT require account creation or login

Local Storage

The app stores the following data locally on your device using AsyncStorage:

• Your preferred calculation method
• Notification settings and preferences
• Prayer tracking data (daily log, streaks)
• Tasbih counter value
• Last known city/country (for display purposes)

This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings.

Third-Party Services

• Google AdMob — We display a single banner ad served by Google AdMob to support the free version of the app. When an ad is requested, Google and its partners may collect and process:
  • Your Advertising ID (Google Advertising ID on Android, IDFA on iOS) — a resettable identifier that you can reset or disable in your device settings
  • Approximate location derived from your IP address
  • Device information (model, OS version, language, country)
  • Ad-interaction events (impressions, clicks, ad-unit IDs)
  Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent prompt (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform) on first launch, and can change their choice at any time by clearing app data and reopening the app. Users outside these regions can opt out of personalized ads in their device's advertising settings (Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization on Android; Settings → Privacy → Tracking on iOS). • OpenStreetMap (Overpass API) — We query OpenStreetMap to find nearby mosques. Only your approximate coordinates are sent to this public API. No personal data is transmitted.

Permissions

• Location — Required for prayer times & Qibla. You can deny this permission, but core features will not work.
• Notifications — Optional. Used for prayer time reminders.
• Vibration — Used for Tasbih counter haptic feedback.

Data Retention & Deletion

All user data is stored locally on your device only. We do not store any of your data on external servers, so there is no server-side data to retain or delete.

How long we retain data: Local data (prayer settings, tracking history, preferences) is kept on your device for as long as the app is installed. There is no expiration — data persists until you choose to delete it.

How to delete your data:

• Go to your device's Settings → Apps → Azan Time → Storage → Clear Data to erase all locally stored app data.
• Uninstalling the app will also permanently delete all associated data from your device.

Since we do not collect or store any data on our servers, no further action is needed to delete your information. If you have any concerns, contact us at segmentbi@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top.
