Every asset you track, every reminder and every document photo you add stays on your device. There are no accounts, no servers of ours and no sync. From version 1.1.0 Expiro is free and supported by a single banner ad served by Google AdMob; to request it the app needs internet access and uses your device's advertising ID. Nothing you enter ever leaves your phone. What does leave it is the ad request, plus the usage metrics Google's on-device text scanner reports about itself; this policy explains exactly what both involve. Earlier versions carried no ads and had no internet permission at all.
Expiro helps you track things that expire (registrations, warranties, insurance, subscriptions) or wear out with use (service intervals and other usage limits), and lets you attach photos of the related documents. Everything you enter — asset names, dates, readings, notes and document images — is stored locally on your device in the app's own private on-device database and file storage. Nothing you enter is transmitted off your device; there is no backend to send it to. The app's only network activity is requesting ads from Google AdMob (see Advertising below) and the usage metrics described under Document scanning below.
From version 1.1.0, Expiro is free and supported by ads. It displays a single banner ad served by Google AdMob at the bottom of the Assets tab. There is no full-screen ad, no ad on launch, and no ad on the Alerts tab or on an asset's own page.
To request an ad, the Google Mobile Ads SDK inside the app sends the following to Google and its advertising partners:
This data is collected by Google and shared with Google as an advertising partner. It is used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Google's handling of it is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and the AdMob partner policies.
Consent in Europe. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Expiro shows a Google-certified consent form the first time it runs and records your choice. If you do not consent to personalised advertising, the app requests non-personalised ads instead. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Ad content is limited to Google's "G" (general audience) rating.
"Scan from photo" reads the text on a document image using Google ML Kit text recognition. The recognition model is bundled inside the app and runs entirely on your device: the image and the text read from it are never sent anywhere.
As Google documents in its ML Kit data disclosure, ML Kit itself may send Google information about how the feature is performing: device information (manufacturer, model, OS version), app package name and version, a per-installation identifier that is not intended to identify you, performance metrics such as latency, API configuration, and error codes. Google uses this for diagnostics and usage analytics, encrypts it in transit, and does not transfer it to third parties. It contains none of your images, text or assets.
Your assets and their details are saved in the app's private on-device database. Document photos you attach are copied into the app's own private storage area on your device; only a local reference to each image is kept. None of it is transmitted off the device at any point — the ad request described above carries no asset, date, note or photo. If you delete an asset or a document inside the app, the corresponding data and image file are removed from your device.
Expiro is completely free. There are no in-app purchases. The app is supported by the banner ad described above.
All of your data lives on your device only. Because we operate no servers, there is nothing for us to retain, delete, or hand over. To remove your data you can:
Settings → Apps → Expiro → Storage → Clear Data to erase all locally
stored app data, orAdvertising data is held by Google, not by us — use the Android ad settings above to reset or opt out.
Expiro is intended for users aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always indicated by the "Last updated" date above, and the app's Play Data safety section is updated to match before a version that changes what the app does ships.
