Your Privacy Matters

Fasting Buddy is built with a privacy-first approach. Your personal fasting data stays on your device, and we use privacy-respecting analytics to understand usage and improve the app.

Data Storage

Your fasting records, weight logs, streaks, and achievements are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage.
Your personal health data, such as your weights and goals, never leaves your device.
No account or registration is required.

We never sell your personal data, and your health data stays on your device.

Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used — such as which screens are viewed and actions like starting or completing a fast — in an anonymous, aggregated form. This helps us improve Fasting Buddy. We do not send your personal health data, such as your exact weights or goals, to analytics. Google's privacy policy applies.

AI Coach

When you use the AI Fasting Coach feature, your questions are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing, along with limited context such as your current fast and most recent weight to make answers relevant. Google's privacy policy applies to these API interactions.

Calorie Scanner

When you use the Calorie Scanner, the meal photo you take or choose is sent to Google's Gemini Vision API to estimate calories and macros. The photo is used only to fulfil that request — we do not store it on our servers. The image and its results stay on your device. Google's privacy policy applies to these API interactions.

Advertising

Fasting Buddy shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads; we request non-personalized ads unless you consent otherwise. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland you are shown a consent choice (Google's User Messaging Platform) before personalized ads are served. We do not share your personal health data with advertisers. Google's advertising and privacy policies apply.

Permissions

Notifications — Used only for fasting reminders you set.
Vibration — Used for haptic feedback on milestones.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from Profile → Settings → Reset All Data. Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

Fasting Buddy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can address it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
