🔕 Silent Mode — Privacy Policy

Introduction

Silent Mode ("we", "our", "the app") is an automation app that silences your phone by time, location, prayer times, and calendar events, developed and published by Rizwan Shoaib. We take your privacy seriously. Silent Mode is built to be local-only: the rules you create and the signals it uses to apply them stay on your device. This policy explains what data the app uses, why, and how it's handled.

Data We Access

• Location (including in the background) — if you create a location rule, the app uses your device location to detect when you arrive at or leave the places you set up (geofencing), so it can silence or restore your ringer automatically. Your location is processed on your device only, is never transmitted to our servers or any third party, and is not retained beyond evaluating your rules.
• Location for prayer times (optional) — if you use prayer-time rules, your location is used locally to calculate prayer times offline. Nothing is sent to any server.
• Calendar (read-only, optional) — if you create a calendar rule, the app reads your event times to silence your phone during events. Calendar data is read on your device only and is never transmitted or stored off your device.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• ❌ We do NOT track or store your location history
• ❌ We do NOT sell your personal data. Our advertising partner Google AdMob processes limited advertising data as described in Advertising below.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Silent Mode is free and is supported by ads served by Google AdMob. The app shows a small banner ad on the main screen and, occasionally, a full-screen (interstitial) ad at natural moments — never while you are changing a rule and never at launch. When an ad is requested, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process:

• Your Advertising ID (the Google Advertising ID on Android) — a resettable identifier that you can reset or delete in your device settings
• Approximate location derived from your IP address
• Device information (model, OS version, language, country)
• Ad-interaction events (impressions, clicks, ad-unit IDs)

This advertising data is handled by Google, not by us, and is separate from the rules, location, and calendar data described elsewhere in this policy — none of that on-device data is ever used for advertising or sent to our advertising partner.

Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent prompt (powered by Google's User Messaging Platform) on first launch, and can change their choice at any time by clearing the app's data and reopening it. Users outside these regions can opt out of personalized ads in their device's advertising settings (Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization on Android). Local Storage

The app stores the following data locally on your device, using your device's private app storage:

• Time rules (the schedules you set)
• Location rules (the place coordinates and radius you choose)
• Prayer-time rules (the prayers and offsets you select)
• Calendar rules (which calendars/events to match)
• App settings and preferences

This data never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time from within the app or by clearing the app's data in your device settings.

Location (Android)

Silent Mode can optionally use your location, including in the background, to run location rules and prayer-time rules. Background access happens only after you grant permission and is used solely to evaluate your rules on your device. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings. The app does not transmit your location anywhere.

Permissions

• Location (including background) — Optional. Used to run location and prayer-time rules. You can deny it and still use time and calendar rules.
• Calendar (read) — Optional. Used only to run calendar rules.
• Do Not Disturb / notification policy access — Used to change your ringer and Do Not Disturb state when a rule activates.
• Notifications — Optional. Used to show the app's status.
• Exact alarms & run at startup — Used to apply your rules at the right time, including after the device restarts.

Data Retention & Deletion

All user data is stored locally on your device only. We do not store any of your data on external servers, so there is no server-side data to retain or delete.

How long we retain data: local data is kept on your device for as long as the app is installed. There is no expiration — data persists until you choose to delete it.

How to delete your data:

• Delete individual rules within the app, or
• Go to your device's Settings → Apps → Silent Mode → Storage → Clear Data to erase all locally stored app data.
• Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all associated data from your device.

Children's Privacy

Our app does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is suitable for general audiences.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top.
